Work In Progress Wednesday :: Holiday Beginnings

It's that time of year again when my thoughts start turning to...teacher gifts. We love ALL the teachers at our school and I want to do a little something for what turns into a lengthy list of them so I'm always looking for good ideas to make in quantity. This year I'm thinking mug rugs, along with a mug and some hot cocoa or coffee packets. Maybe some home made cookies too if I'm feeling really energetic.
So I'd love to hear your favorite teacher gifts ideas! Oh and if you have a mug rug tutorial you love I'd be thrilled to have a link to it in the comments. If there's any interest I can compile a list of good mug rug tutorials and post it next week - Happy Sewing everyone! (Cute mug from IKEA).

Linking up with Lee for WIP Wednesday.

  1. Teacher gifts are always a worry at this thine of year. I have made purses in the past and pencil cases. This year they are getting tissue holders and some homemade ginger bread.

  2. I'm totally biased, being a teacher. Mug rug+ cocoa mix or mug rug+starbucks card=BIG WIN. Just saying.

  3. Good to know I am on the right track! All teachers are getting mug rugs with a cup full of hot chocolate, coffee and tea. Might add a Starbucks card now! No tutorial link though, I just pick a size and go with whatever comes to mind. I have only made 3 total at this point, but I will be cranking them out very soon.

  4. I did the mug-rug thing one year, and it's a great way to use up really small scraps. I made about 12 or 15 using this tutorial (it goes quickly!)...

  5. For mug rugs, I usually just wing it, but here's a cute one I pinned a while back: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/67342956899428395/
Another idea is a mouse pad. Here's my tutorial for one: http://pdf.aquilterstable.com/Wordy%20Mouse%20Pad%20Tutorial.pdf
